About HRB

HRB History

The Housing Resources Board (HRB) coalesced in 1986 as a small group of North Kitsap residents in response to the desperate need for affordable housing in this part of the county. Formal incorporated designation of Bainbridge Island, Interparish Council, Housing Resources Board was achieved in March of 1989. HRB went on to become a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) with annual recertification and 33% of [HRB] board being either low income or working for an organization representing low income - as well as shortening its name to Housing Resources Board.

HRB employed its first executive director in 1999. Our current executive director, Mark Blatter, has been with us since January 2012.  He has been instrumental in assisting HRB in the transition to becoming a Community Land Trust. The organization maintains board membership at approximately 12 and has a full-time/part-time staff of twelve.
